The Hole (2001)
Directed by Nick Hamm.
Staring Thora Birch and Keira Knightley
In the first five
minutes my hopes were high, distraught girl wondering to find a phone with
blood soaked socks and a blood-curdling scream all before the opening credits
rolled.
I was sadly disappointed;
it became a very slow moving film, a lot of it was unnecessary to the story and
felt just placed to extend the running time.
The film was choppy and
not edited well, jumping from “flashbacks” to story and back again. There were
3 different versions of what happened, with the ending finally slightly coming
together in a not so cleaver way.
The acting was mediocre
at best and the dialogue was lacking. There was unnecessary nude scene from
both male (full frontal) and female (breasts), but it was expected from a story
about four sex driven teenagers looking to skip a field trip and party.
It was not what I would
define as a horror film at all, no murderer, no paranormal, just a tale of what
a twisted teenage girl will do for love/lust.
Do I find myself yelling
I want the last 102 minutes of my life back? No, but would I watch it again? Absolutely
not. Over all I would rate this film with 2 out of 5 stars.
